The Bitcoin White Paper
In October 2008, in the midst of the global financial crisis, a person or a group of persons with the pseudonym “Satoshi Nakamoto” published a 9-page paper titled “Bitcoin: A peer-to-peer electronic cash system”. Nobody knows who Satoshi is and even though he/she/they were active in online discussions after the start of Bitcoin, Satoshi disappeared in 2011 and there was no sign of life ever since. This paper and a first implementation by Satoshi marked the birth of Bitcoin.
